2010 tumblr secret santa

i’ve gotten several questions asking if i’m doing tumblr secret santa again this year. short answer: no. (long answer: nooooooooooo…hurr hurr hurr).

i had a lot of fun doing it the past few years, but this year between work and school and a million other things on my plate, i don’t have the time to do it right! i know last year there were some other secret santa projects that sprung up, so i will try to find more information about them and post links when they become available.

(and if you have any info about the other secret santa exchanges out there, please let me know!)

emilyinternet: a big thank you to miss kelly of dear world, my very thoughtful secret santa. by coincidence, kelly and i went to the same university (indiana university in bloomington), and she sent me a photo she took on campus. since i don’t get to back very often, that really means a lot to me. and i got a mix CD with songs i already love and songs i can’t wait to learn all the words to. thank you kelly!

oh no! another secret santa post!

hey guys -

i’ve been getting a lot of emails from people saying either a) they never got a gift and haven’t heard anything from their secret santa, or b) they never heard from the people who they sent a gift to.

i’m not sure what’s going on this year, but we all need to get on it! i’ll fess up, i have yet to make a post about the incredibly awesome gift i got from my secret santa. AND i have yet to hear anything from the person i sent my gift to. so i get it, i do.

BUT!

if you have yet to send a gift — SEND ONE. it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. but you signed up to participate, which means you committed to it, which means someone out there is waiting on a gift from you. at the very least, please send an email to your person giving them a heads up of what’s going on.

if you have received your gift — please email your secret santa to let them know you got it! don’t leave them hanging!!

i know the holiday season has been hectic and busy for a lot of us (myself included) and it’s easy to let things slip through the cracks when everything is busy. but now that the dust has settled, if you’ve yet to take care of this stuff, please do so! :)

allthingsalishan: So remember the cute girl that I said was my scret santa? Well she fucking rocks! When I moved 7 months ago, I never changed my address on elfster (what? I’m  never on that shit!) so that sweet bun bun shipped all goodies to the old house. When she realized it hadn’t been delivered she emailed me to let me know her identity and that she was going to send something else to new casa. Today, BOTH gifts arrived. I am in sour patch kid, adorable scarf, presh cards and frames, heaven. THIS is why I love the interwebs. You people are fucking amazing! Thank you again, Laetitia +100000000000 to laetitia!!!!!!!

I got my Tumblr Secret Santa gift today, and my santa, Donna, knocked it out of the park! The package was pretty, there was a nice card inside to explain all the gifts, and Donna even thought to tell me in the card when to stop reading and open the presents. :) She sent gourmet scented colored pencils for me to use in my art journal, The Office themed notepads since I’m obviously obsessed with the show, and an awesome hummingbird necklace that she deduced I would love based on all my posts about necklaces!

Donna, thank you so much! Your gifts are spot on and so fun! Plus now I have a great new tumblr to follow on top of it, which is like a fourth gift.

pirata: yay!  today i got my secret santa present! thank you, cathy the destroyer! the other day michelle was saying that her secret santa seemed really cool and she got you! and then you got me! haha.  awesome! :D  i got gummi bears, tea, and a really cool coffee mug with a gun handle!  haha awesome! kat, you did better than more than half of the boyfriends i’ve had and way better than my family.  haha.  thanks! that mug is awesome!

My draw had a lot of comics posted on her blog and her favorite colors are blue and purple, so it inspired me to make this for her (on a canvas sturdy enough to withstand shipping). I also sent along a CD of songs I was particularly fond of this year and a couple non-traditional Christmas tunes to keep with the spirit of the season but avoid the expected. I hope she likes it! this is so awesome!! what a cool idea, i bet she’ll love it!

A very nice letter written on a doughnut bag, a can of chalkboard paint, a bag of blue bath salts, a book on how to live from my Secret Santa’s hometown, a fancy Christmas reindeer made out of corks, an orange bracelet (my first orange piece of clothing/accessory!), and a holy crackload of super ono Captain Crunch Rice Krispies-esque treats. OMG…i do believe amanda knows where  “above and beyond” is located, because she definitely went there!
