thing one:
please be sure to put your tumblr username somewhere on your elfster profile! otherwise your secret santa won’t be able to figure out who you are/anything about you, and that would make for a very boring exchange.

the easiest way is to put it in your name (for example: first name, last name, tumblr username), or at the very least, make sure to put it somewhere on your profile where it can be easily found! i’ve seen a lot of people signing up without including this very important bit of information, and i’m hoping that by fixing up your profiles now we can avoid headaches in the future!

thing two:
since i’ve had some questions on this — the name drawing will take place on december 5 (this coming saturday). that way everyone who wants to sign up should have plenty of time to do so. once the drawing takes place (it’s all automated by elfster) you will receive an email telling you who you’ve been matched up with.

For the record, elfster is set up so the only two people who will see your shipping information are you and your secret santa. We did this last year with a lot of success and no axe murders! :)

If you’re feeling nervous about giving out your home address, you could put your office address or some other location you’d be able to pick it up from (just be sure that it’s a valid shipping address).

After you do that, take one minute to set up a free account, which will let you put up a wishlist/idea list for your Secret Santa, enter your address in a secured location that ONLY your Secret Santa will be able to see, and be able to ask anonymous questions to one another to find out the best gift ideas!

Names will be drawn on December 5 (next Saturday). You have to be registered by then if you want to participate! This will give you time to think of your awesome gift, make your awesome gift, and mail your awesome gift! Since there was a bit of confusion with deadlines last year, this year let’s keep it simple - please get your package in the mail by December 25. If you don’t think you’ll be able to get something together and get it in the mail by then, please don’t participate — last year some people ended up not getting presents b/c their secret santas dropped the ball, and I don’t want that to happen again!!

secret santa help!!?

i am way way WAAAAY behind this year…we need to get this going ASAP!! i’m working right now to figure out the best way to handle it, to keep everyone’s information safe and cut down on confusion.

last year we used elfster, which worked alright, but there were some mishaps. does anyone know of a better way to do it? if the amount of emails i’m getting about it are any indication, we are going to have a big turn out this year.

so yeah! ideas/suggestions? did you like elfster last year? do you know of something better?


also - would anyone like to help me, as a backup email answerer? i’m thinking of setting up an email account for the secret santa, and if anyone wants to help with questions/concerns people email to us, that would be awesome. let me know!

My Christmas season has been extended! This gives me hope! Yay, I got so happy when I saw this on my dashboard tonight :) There have been a few people who have come forward offering to be foster secret santas for those of you who didn’t get a present (tsk tsk to the bad secret santas out there). I have read all the emails and am still planning on organizing it, I just haven’t had time to deal with it the past few weeks!! But I will email those of you who have contacted me when I figure out how I’m gonna make it work :) And for everyone…don’t lose all hope…apparently gifts are still rollin’ in!
